About Lone Wolf Studios
Lone Wolf Studios is a London-based film and television production company founded by Emmy-nominated producer Max Peltz and joined in 2021 by Emmy-nominated producer Maxim Gertler-Jaffe.
The company develops and produces premium, character-driven stories with real-world stakes, spanning documentary, factual series and narrative projects for global audiences.
Recent credits include WHERE THE SWEET BIRDS SANG, a newly completed feature documentary directed by Sarah Teale and currently targeting a festival premiere ahead of release in 2027; the Netflix Original HOW TO ROB A BANK, which debuted in the Netflix Global Top 10 and remained there for two weeks; the three-part Channel 4 series FUGITIVE: THE MYSTERY OF THE CRYPTO QUEEN; and BALOMANIA, which premiered at CPH:DOX in 2024 and has since received multiple award nominations.
Lone Wolf’s previous work includes HACKER:HUNTER, a global cybercrime series viewed more than 20 million times across YouTube and Euronews; BAD HOMBRES for Showtime; and IN THE COLD DARK NIGHT, a Sky Original feature documentary later released on BET+ as a four-part series and now streaming on Hulu.
The company is also behind RHINO, a visually distinctive eco-thriller narrated by Academy Award® nominee Tom Hardy.
Alongside its completed work, Lone Wolf is developing and producing an international slate across true crime, science, technology and contemporary history, including a feature narrative with a leading global streamer, a feature documentary examining Alzheimer’s research, and a true-crime docuseries with a North American broadcaster.
Max Peltz
Founder & Managing Director
Max Peltz is an Emmy-nominated film and television producer, best known for producing the Netflix Original HOW TO ROB A BANK, which debuted in the Netflix Global Top 10 during its first two weeks. He has produced and managed projects with budgets ranging from $800K to $5.5M.
Max has recently completed his latest film, WHERE THE SWEET BIRDS SANG, which is targeting a festival premiere ahead of its planned release in 2027.
Previously, Max wrote and produced IN THE COLD DARK NIGHT, a feature documentary that aired on ABC, Hulu and Sky Documentaries, and was later released on BET+ as a four-part series in 2020. He received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Documentary. He then produced BAD HOMBRES for Showtime and the cybersecurity series HACKER:HUNTER between 2019 and 2023, which was viewed by more than 20 million people online.
Max is an Executive Producer on BALOMANIA, which premiered to wide acclaim at CPH:DOX in 2024 and received multiple award nominations, including Best Documentary Feature at the 2025 Robert Awards. The film has since reached audiences across Europe, with releases on DR, SVT, VGTV and RSI, alongside a UK theatrical release at London’s Bertha DocHouse.
He is also a Co-Executive Producer on the three-part docuseries FUGITIVE: THE MYSTERY OF THE CRYPTOQUEEN, released on Channel 4 in July 2024, and a Consulting Producer on the eco-thriller RHINO, narrated by Tom Hardy, which was released in UK cinemas in November 2025, followed by a digital release on platforms including Prime Video, Apple TV and Sky Store.
Max is currently developing and producing a slate of international documentary projects spanning true crime, science, technology and contemporary history, with broadcast and production partners across Europe and North America.
Max is a voting BAFTA member and began his career working with award-winning producer Lawrence Elman and BBC Storyville commissioning editor Nick Fraser.
Maxim Gertler-Jaffe
Managing Director
Maxim Gertler-Jaffe is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker whose work spans documentary, scripted, and multimedia storytelling. Most recently, he produced “How to Rob A Bank”, a Global Top 10 hit on Netflix. In 2022, Maxim co-directed the multimedia short-form documentary “Chinatown 2050” with architect and artist Linda Zhang. The project premiered at DOXA and SDAFF, with a VR version featured at Toronto’s Nuit Blanche.
Maxim has played a key role in the development and production of acclaimed feature documentaries, including “All Governments Lie”, which screened at TIFF and IDFA, enjoyed a North American theatrical run, and was broadcast internationally. He also contributed to “The Truth is in the Stars”, a Netflix acquired documentary following William Shatner as he interviews celebrity trekkies such as Stephen Hawking, Ben Stiller, and Whoopi Goldberg.
Beyond documentaries, Maxim co-created the award-winning short scripted series “World Away”. Additionally, he has produced, directed, and edited promotional and campaign videos for prominent clients like CBC Television and the Writers’ Trust of Canada.
